A lovely privately owned camping area at the mouth of the Douglas River. You need to be completely self-contained as there’s no access to drinking water, power, toilets or showers. Pets are allowed & camp fires, as long as there’s not a fire ban in the area. Phone in advance to book a site ($25/site) & call into reception to pay & collect your key to the property. Reception is off site, on the other side of the highway. Drive through the sheep farm & choose your site, they are not allocated. Hope that the weather is in your favour 🤞🏼
Lucky to get a spot, beautiful though and so close to the waterfalls. The road noise through the night was aweful though.
It was a very unfriendly experience. When we arrived the gate was locked (as we read in a review so it was not a surprise) with a sign : private property no visitors) We called the phone number from Anycamp. The woman asked how many nights, and we told one, two person with an RV and a tent. She said we can’t use the site and gave us direction to an other campsite. Then we met a couple who just left the campsite and had the key and we followed them to where the woman lived hoping that we can convince her. She was most unfriendly, mentioned something abut chemical toilet in RVs, and categorically denied access although we would have been keen to pay the $25 per person per night fee. The only good news was that the camping site she sent us was superb at Chain of Lagoons.
