Best Christmas we had in a long time! Even though it was pretty packed the campsites offer enough space to not feel like sitting on top of each other. Being one of the few sustainably run campgrounds with facilities it offers the perfect mixture of bush-feeling (because of amazing trees and wetlands lovingly created and taken care of by the owners) but with hot showers (for the spoiled city-critters ;)). Having been here the third time now we finally also got to appreciate the amazing hikes you can start straight from the campground, just being really lazy with a book at one of the numerous lakes in the area or sitting quietly in the wetlands watching the kangaroos coming close and hopping across the site. I don't know any other campground where the owners take the time to personally run you through the facilities, give you a tour of the area and provide amazing insider tips for your day plans. If you like to give up common sense and responsibilities at the entrance of your chosen holiday destination you might rather spend your time at a boring, clinically tidy standard caravan park chain. If you genuinely care about sustainability and your environment and want to support enterprises (and the people behind them) that put their heart and soul into passing those values on while being surrounded by beautiful, grounding nature you definitely want to check out the Benfields campground.
