So there is no signage on the main road to say you’re heading to the campsite. The Wattle & Shady Track are massively pot holed & not ideal for a 2WD vehicle but we did slowly make our way down the 1.5km. There’s no way a caravan or trailer could get to it. Once there, although the site says there’s toilets-there isn’t. There used to be a single drop toilet but it’s so old, it’s fallen apart & overgrown. There’s no shower or running water. There are a few old picnic table & chairs which are old & falling apart. It’s hard to find a camping spot as there’s not much flat cleared ground. Everywhere is over run with tall grass. The cockatoos screech from sun up to sun down. That’s all the negatives. But, it’s quiet, peaceful, beautiful, on the banks of the Goulburn River. We stayed 4 nights. We only had 1 or 2 other campers each night and they were so far away we felt like we were alone. The fish jump out of the water before your eyes, the kookaburras laugh and bring a smile with them, the river flows happily along, there’s some crudely carved fire places in the sand & walking tracks to enable an easy walk to rivers edge. I’d definitely run away from the world & visit this slice of heaven again.
