Campsites

Stayed for 4 nights with some mates and got an absolute ripper spot just a stones throw from the waves. The beach is clean with basically no seaweed to be seen and the water is very good. The only thing that lets it down is how thin the physical area is. Take a look at a satellite picture and you’ll see what I mean. The little grass patches get swallowed up by campers really easily and I’d hate to be there when it starts to get crammed up, luckily for us there wasn’t many people there at the time we went in late jan. The best spot for camping is probably up the northern end as it opens up a bit. Again to pick on the thin situation is that the small spots of bushland between the road and beach is a minefield of rubbish and toilet paper, so I’d recommend sorting out your own toilet situation or you’d have to run the gauntlet. Although it sounds bad it wasn’t too hindering to our experience. The actual camping/grassy spots are fairly clean, just the bush areas have been disregarded a bit. The road along the beach is a little chopped out but nothing unmanageable, just gotta take it easy. The satellite image will also show a fair bit of space south from the road entry with people camping on it however this area is no more and has been fenced off. Also google maps took us to the wrong spot when coming down from sale and put us in a dead end. Don’t ask it to take you to the beach instead aim for “mcgaurans beach road” and come in on that. The beach also had some fairly strong rips so be careful of swimming out too far Pros: Great position Isolated Easy access Cons: Some small areas Bit of rubbish Overall 7.6/10
