Ration Point Camping Area is situated alongside a shallow, clean and crystal clear river with access to the water being easy and mostly unobstructed. Sites are accessible by 2WD and 4WD vehicles with limited access to certain areas with a caravan. Fires are permitted and you’ll find makeshift firepits built by previous campers. Dogs are also permitted, but keep in mind that this camping area is popular with visitors with dogs - so keep your four legged friend on a leash. Telstra and Optus reception is available. You must be fully self contained to stay at this site as there are no toilets, bins or amenities, however the town (5min drive) does have public restrooms. Get in quick during busy periods (Easter, long weekends, etc) as sites quickly fill up and it’s first in first served. Keep Sofala’s camping areas looking beautiful and take your rubbish to the local tip (7-10min drive) free of charge. We definitely recommend this site for families and groups.
