decent little camp spot. free, quite small but has a drop loo, fire pits, couple of picnic tables and 2 access points to the river. area is flat with the larger campsite at the back having 3 timber benches around the fire. the suggan buggan river was flowing pretty strong, still possible to swim (pretty cold!! but great on a hot day), not too deep but be careful with the current. great spot in terms of location, about an hour from Buchan, easy access to the Alpine & Snowy River National Parks, 20km to the turn off for McKillops bridge (about an hour drive to the bridge from Suggan Buggan), 10km to the NSW border & Kosciusko National Park. Road is in great condition but is winding & tight in sections so take it slowly. also saw a few wallabies & roos crossing so watch out for them. very quiet despite the proximity to the road. great spot if you have a dog with you as they can be here, unlike most of the sites in the area due to them being within national parks. no phone reception (a big plus), nearest points we found was half way up the hill for telstra & closer to the top for optus. closest full & clear service was up at mount seldom seen. the old school house is within walking distance from the camp site, amazing step back in time. we found a cute little green frog at our site after some rain & did get nightly visits from a very curious fox - who had no hesitation in trying to run off with various items while we were sleeping ie spoons, bowls, shoes etc. all were recovered close to camp, however we never found the bag of dry dog food!! be mindful of this if you do have a dog with you as it did come right up to the campfire while we were sitting close by. all round a great little spot for a stopover on your way to Jindabyne and beyond or as a home base for exploring the area.
