Great first ever camp experience. Learned lots. Water was wonderful for a swim. Pitching a tent for the first time was a challenge as the ground is extremely rocky but worked around it by using rocks to weigh down tent peg elastics. Put my tent up higher ground near the bridge end also which was handy when on the fourth morning the river rose quite a bit due to the storms along the east coast. Recommend not setting up camp directly beneath the bridge as the waters can rise up to the concrete easily. Access is 4WD but you can park at the top and it’s a short walk down. Saw some wild goats, thorny lizards, spiders, beetles and butterflies galore. Also recommend a visit into Sofala museum on your way out, Mr Wiggles, his cats and his fascinating collection are just so wonderful! $5 entry (16 under free) cash only.
