Lake Mungo is extraordinary. I visited in January - super hot and hardly anyone else out there. There are two campsites - Belah located on the self drive tour and the main campsite near near the visitor centre. The main camp site is better set up and closer to facilities but the Belah one is more of a bush camping experience. There are picnic tables which could do with a repair as they rock..
