A beautiful spot by a quiet river surrounded by cattle farms and beautiful hills. Stayed here whilst paragliding in the valley for two nights. Loved it. No facilities, but the nearby general store and pub are fine and can have a quick dip in river to wash off. I will stay again. Leave it clean, bins provided at entrance.

This is a very basic site, but hell, I'm very easy to please. Situated on the bank of the very pretty Kiewa River, this site has nothing in the way of facilities apart from a tumbledown picnic table, a council wheelie bin for the use of campers and motorists, and most importantly, some nice flat ground. Probably best suited to self-contained RVs and such since there aren't toilet facilities. However, if tented, swagged or hammocked campers such follow the golden rules of bush toileting (dig a hole at least 8 inches deep and use it as a pit toilet for both waste AND paper, then fill the hole back in when you're done), it's a fine spot for a quick overnighter. Down the far end of the site is a clearung next to a pebbly beach which is probably very popular in summer. That end was very soggy and muddy when I visited so I camped closer to the road. There's no tapped water onsite, and since it's dairy country I wouldn't recommend drinking from the Kiewa River without boiling it first. As they say, dysentery is ugly. There's limited opportunities for firewood collection in the reserve, so probably best to bring your own. There is some traffic on Boyd's Road, but it tends to die off by mid evening so traffic noise isn't going to be an issue most nights. Great spot, would be epic in Summer when you could splash around in the river without icicles forming where icicles should never occur.
