A nice quiet camping spot in the Bunya mountains. Surprisingly although they have fireplaces, they’re actually raised off the ground more akin to a woodfire bbq than a bonfire to keep warm. There’s an old donkey water heater where you can gather around the fire while the water boils and a simple setup for a nice warm shower once the water is hot. Toilets were clean and easily accessible. The site itself has some great views and although it can get really cold overnight, there’s some great walks and waterfalls in the vincinity. Travellers tip: If you’re looking for a real coffee then head into Dandabah Village where there’s plenty of cafés, a general store and even restaurants and a whisky bar. Only a short drive from Burton’s Well.
