Like every man and his dog my friend and I (and our dogs) went up to Yarrawonga/Forges Beach for the Queens Birthday long weekend. The place was absolutely packed, but we took the 4wds back off the river and found an awesome spot far from everybody else with our own little view of the river. Phone reception wasn’t great but that didn’t even matter. We could have a big fire and music playing without disturbing other campers, and similarly were not disturbed by others. There is no amenities here, so bring your portables toilets or your shovels and make sure you take your rubbish home with you :)
