Noccundra Waterhole is a pretty spot. We camped here in the height of summer (January) and the temperature did not go below 45 degrees Celsius all night. Understandably there was no one else around and peak season is not until the winter months. The area for camping is very large and you won’t have a problem finding a spot to camp. The road in from Qld is all bitumen to Noccundra so it’s also a perfect spot if you have a caravan. The Noccundra Hotel is at the entrance to the waterhole campground and is a great spot to grab a cold drink and a feed. They have a couple of motel rooms for those who don’t wish to camp and there are free public toilets and showers to the side of the pub to service the campground. The only downside that we found was the constant harassment of flies however we have soon learnt that this is evident throughout the outback! In the end we found solace from the flies by sitting in the Wilson River 😁
